Wow! The clips I saw on the weather channel didn't show the river. How could they leave that out?!?
Kevin, that's not funny.

Just heard on the radio that it is going to be over 2 months before the road is cleared and re-opened.

Ahhh, nothing like government. They will get it done FAST. Likely, all union employees who get a break every 30 minutes and need a bobcat to lift anything heavier than 10 pounds. 2 months seems a bit ridiculous but what do I know. Maybe they have to do some stability test or netting on the mountain. Plus, in another month or two they may have ice and snow to deal with. On the bright side, I think they will have it opened by March or April.

interesting... if you zoom in you can clearly see the end of the cement ramp.  less of the debris is in the river than i thought.  it's really just the eddy. and a little bit directly upstream in ramp's edge (which wasn't anywhere you go anyway). doesn't look like much else will be impacted.

maybe they could just push the stuff off the end of the ramp and make the eddy bigger...

of course, getting the road open is the real issue...
Mind if I join you in that one boat eddy?

They are saying that the road is supposed to open back up on March 31st.

Here is the latest update.
http://news.tennesseeanytime.org/node/4716

They are working 24x7 to clear it now.  If you are awake at night take a look at the almost real time pictures.  It looks really cool lit up.
