Wow I missed some fun!!! Bryant, I'm so glad you guys got the truck situation under control and made it home.  I was all loaded and ready to paddle but had to come back and finish training at Fox and Hound; but hey, I have a job :-D

It seems that I'm not all filled in on the trip reports. Pinned boat?

Oh, and I'm glad I got out to see everyone:)  It was fun camping Friday even though I had to bolt in the morning. I'll try to make it out next time there is a group!

Ok, so thank you all for helping out with my eye injury, especially Michael Howard for pulling me out of the steep river bank and Joe Dinic for taking me to the emergency room.  Also, thank you all for rescuing my boat from the rock.

Barry Smith, the professional photographer we met at the put in on Sunday morning, sent me a couple of pictures this morning.  Take a look

Looks like a cover story for a little cosmetic augmentation!

Good trip!  First time I've ever hitched a ride from Memphis to NC! Got a ride from kevin to the ocoee and Woody O'brien to statesville NC. Woody has been to our creek week a couple times. My mother drove to statesville (40 miles) and picked me up from there. I picked up my (new to me) 1998 red VW jetta and drove it back to memphis. Now I have two of these things! New red, has about 220,000 less miles than old red. I drove from Wytheville VA to Memphis on one tank and still had 1/8th left over. This was 555 miles at 75 mph.....13 gallon tank!

Back in the saddle!

Kinga

I sorry that happen to your eye. I had the same injury on July 2. I rolled my boat in a class three fall. I either hit a rock or my paddle hit me under my eye. It healed and now I have a small scar.  For a guy it ads character a story to tell.

I have looked at a full face mask helmet. I almost bought one at the NOC.

I've thought about them quite a few times myself. However, with my large melon of a head, the only company that makes a helmet worth buying is Sweet. Which is quite unfortunate for a poor college student who can't even afford the gas for most of the trips he wants to go on!

But, seeing as how you're a girl with a smaller head(and much prettier face than mine) I would invest $100 in Shred Ready's new helmet. They are a little bigger than the old model, and they are much stronger and more durable as well. Atleast, that's what the reviews and people I have talked to have said..

I wish you a speedy recovery and no scars!  :-)
