Short Bear Creek Weekend?
« on: August 15, 2010, 09:20:48 PM »
Ok.. my backpacking plans fell through for this coming weekend and I was thinking of going back down to Bear Creek but just doing the short section (only about a total of a hour paddle time) but spending most of the day at the falls and running them. Anyone up for it. I can take 3 others with me and I will cut all expense on travel. Anyone? anyone? lol. Would be nice to have some company.

I think I'd like to get in on this. How long are you staying, just for the day?

Timmber, I don't know you but cant wait. Will you already be there or are you driving down with us? I was just wanting to do the short section but I am NOT beyond doing the whole trek. I do plan to be at roll practice, if I have any calories left to burn after boatball tomorrow <g>. Long section, short section, either one's fine with me.

If your gonna do Bear Crick you have to run the whole thing especially if you have never run it.  Everybody needs to experience the "Alabama Death Paddle" once.
If you paddle like a girl then you must be pretty good!

"death march" sounds better than "death paddle." after looking at AW's description, I'll probably be doing more walking than paddling.

Not sure where the Death March came from, but it is a Death Paddle.

Why would you walk that river?  There are only 2 rapids on it, 3 if you count the mandatory portage and then 23 miles of flatwater.

probably talking about two different sections of water. is Factory Falls the VI?

23 miles of flatwater? I vote for the short run!
