JCC Fall/Winter/Spring Roll Class
« on: August 23, 2010, 08:45:52 PM »
Summer has come and gone, so now we are heading back to the inside pool until next summer.

The classes will be held at the Jewish Community Center located at 6560 Poplar Ave Wednesday nights from 7-9pm.  The cost will be $10 per session.

Parking is available just by the gate you will enter.  There is a chain link fence that has a gate on it that you will walk through and then go in the door to the pool.  Once you get your boat in the pool you will then walk down the hall to the front desk and pay your $10 to the person at the desk.  There are changing rooms there at the pool.

This map pretty much shows you what you need to know about parking and bringing your boat in.

There are not any boats for new people so we will have to bring gear for them to use, so if you are new and don't have any gear please let us know so we can be prepared for you.

Please post if you have any questions.

Hi Everyone:

I attended the roll class last week.  I had a great time and learned a ton.  Michael was kind enough to let me borrow his boat and equipment for the class.  (Thanks Michael!)

I'll be attending again this week.  Since I haven't had much luck finding a boat to purchase in the last week, I'll be borrowing Michael's again.

This week, however, my brother-in-law has asked if he can come with me.  Like me, he's a total newb to whitewater kayaking, and doesn't have a boat yet.  Is there any chance that someone would be willing to help him out with the necessary equipment?

He's 6'0, 180 pounds, size 12 shoe.

Thanks in advance!  I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at class Wednesday!

I do have an extra paddle I can bring for him.  I have a couple of older skirts.  One of them might fit, but if somebody else has a skirt that will fit a Mega Rocker bring it.

Michael, I'll have both girls with me this week at roll practice, if we could use an extra skirt that would be nice too.

I think I have the skirts covered.  You can still bring the nylons if that is your thing.

if that's how you're gonna roll, I think I'm glad I'm not going to be there...
